5-Day Assessor Course based on the requirement of ISO/IEC 17025
This five-day course is particularly designed to train lab experts on ISO/IEC 17025. These experts are then given chance to accompany PNAC’s assessment team to work as technical experts/assessors during the assessment of labs. It gives participants guidance and training in the skills needed to develop and implement an effective laboratory quality management & technical system. The course is based on ISO/IEC 17025:2005, the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories in accordance with the requirements of APLAC TR001`- Guidance on the training courses for Laboratories and Inspection Bodies.
Course Contents:
  • Introduction to Laboratory Accreditation, an overview of ISO/IEC 17025:2005
  • International Dimension of Accreditation
  • Accreditation Criteria and Their Interpretations
  • Quality Management System Requirements
  • Accreditation Criteria and Their Interpretations
  • Technical Requirements for Laboratories
  • Accreditation Body Operation and Regulations
  • Accreditation process of PNAC
  • Assessment Techniques
  • Assessors skill
  • communications
  • Report writing
  • Policies of PNAC
  • Exercises
  • Written Examination

The course is presented by senior staff of PNAC, each with a laboratory background and a detailed knowledge of the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

Duration: Five Day
Venue & Dates will be announced one month before each course.
Laboratory Quality Management Course
This course is designed for the staff of laboratories working on ISO/IEC 17025 and for newly inducted staff. It gives participants guidance and training in the skills needed to develop and implement an effective laboratory quality management system. The course is based on ISO/IEC 17025:2005, the international standard used for accrediting laboratories. The provision of reliable and timely information is critical in the modern testing laboratory environment. It is worth to mention that well documented quality management systems and validated technical procedures are required to effectively implement and the laboratory is operated by well-trained and competent staff.

  • International Dimension of Accreditation
  • Accreditation Criteria and Their Interpretations
  • Quality Management System Requirements
  • Accreditation Criteria and Their Interpretations
  • Technical Requirements for Laboratories
  • The development, documentation and implementation of quality systems.
  • Internal Auditing
  • Method selection and validation
  • Selection, training and supervision of staff
  • Equipment management and calibration
  • The uncertainty of measurement
  • Test records and reports
  • Accreditation Body Operation and Regulations
  • Accreditation process of PNAC
  • Exercises, Assignments and Discussions
The course is presented by senior staff of PNAC, each with a laboratory background and a detailed knowledge of the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

Traceability and Uncertainty in Measurement for Testing and Calibration Laboratories
Traceability and Uncertainty in Measurement for Testing and Calibration Laboratories is a mandatory requirement of ISO/IEC 17025. This requires that all laboratories must make a reasonable estimate of their uncertainties of measurement. The competence of laboratories is judged by how the lab fulfills the technical requirements of the standard. Laboratories need to have and apply procedures for making reasonable estimates of their uncertainties of measurement. This course is designed for the analysts who will be required to estimate the uncertainties of their test results and for those responsible for technical management of testing laboratories.
Contents of the course:
  • Review of Basic Concepts, general understanding and requirements for Traceability & Uncertainty of Measurement.
  • Evaluation of Measurement Uncertainty based upon validation.
  • PNAC policy for the traceability
  • Meaning of uncertainty and overview of uncertainty requirements in ISO/IEC 17025
  • Estimation of Uncertainty of Measurement.
  • Evaluation of Measurement uncertainty based upon the principles of suggested by GUM & EURACHEM
  • Examples and practical exercises on estimating uncertainty using the various identified approaches.
The course is presented by senior staff of PNAC, each with a laboratory background and a detailed knowledge of the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
Duration & Fee: One day
Venue & Dates will be announced one month before each course.
Method Validation
This course is designed for the laboratory personnel to learn about the concepts and conduct of analytical method validation.

The laboratories often seek to carry out method validation to fulfil the accreditation requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. Other compelling reasons for conducting it are:

  • An analytical method is then much better understood
  • Capabilities and limitations of the method are established
  • Factors that influence method performance are better identified.
Contents of the course:
  • Review of Basic Concepts, general understanding and requirements for validation.
  • PNAC policy for method validation.
  • Performance characteristics: terminology
  • A systematic approach to validating analytical methods
  • Practical examples of Validation
  • Interactive Discussions
The course is presented by senior staff of PNAC, each with a laboratory background and a detailed knowledge of the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
Duration & Fee: One day
Venue & Dates will be announced one month before each course.
Quality Assurance (Proficiency Testing/ ILC)
This course is designed for the laboratory personnel to learn about the concepts and conduct of Internal & External Quality Assurance.

The laboratories often seek to carry out different internal quality control/assurance tools e.g., control charts and Inter Laboratory Comparisons/Proficiency Testing as an external quality assurance tools to fulfill the accreditation requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.

Contents of the course:
  • Review of Basic Concepts, general understanding and requirements for Quality Assurance.
  • PNAC policy for Proficiency Testing.
  • Use of Quality Tools (Control Charts)
  • Interactive Discussions
